The number of dental implants is on the rise with high success and survival rates. Similarly, peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis are becoming more prevalent in everyday practice. This presentation highlights methods used to diagnose and treat peri-implant disease to restore function and esthetics. Emphasis will be placed on non-surgical and surgical (regenerative versus resective) procedures from a periodontal perspective. Multiple clinical case examples will be presented and explained, using clinical records, radiographs, models, and photographs. The criteria for the selection of materials and technologies, and alternatives, will be discussed as they are relevant to each case.
